Slide Rock. Indian Gardens. Colorado Plateau. Swimming Holes. West Fork.
Rand-McNally named this route one of the “Top Eight Scenic Drives in the U.S.” Drive through Uptown Sedona north on 89A and discover why Oak Creek Canyon is called the “Baby Grand Canyon.” But here, you get to drive through it. It’s almost hard to believe people actually get to live here, in the canyon.
During peak season (spring and fall) it’s best to avoid the canyon on weekends because Oak Creek Canyon draws people by the thousands and traffic comes to a stand-still. It’s not uncommon to wait for hours in traffic coming from the north. But on lower traffic days, prepare yourself for some of the most awe-inspiring views the U.S. has to offer.
